Knockout! rules
All laps submitted to GPC.Knockout! are subject to the same rules. These rules need to be applied. If a lap does not comply to
these rules, it will be removed after the verification. These are the rules for GPC.Knockout:
- Competition structure
Every GPC.Knockout championship contains a specified number of rounds. Generally, there will be 6 rounds: 1st round, 2nd round, 3rd round, Quarter-Final, Semi-Final and the Final. This means that in this situation, 64 drivers can join this Knockout compeition: 64 -> 32 -> 16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2. The driver that wins all his rounds is the GPC.Knockout champion.
- Round procedure
Every driver is allowed to do exactly one hotlap per round. After connecting to the server, the driver goes out to the track for the outlap. As soon as start/finish is crossed for the first time, the time starts counting. This is your lap that will be considered for the Knockout matchup. The hotlap has to be done in the days in which the round has been scheduled. These dates are displayed in the Tournaments area. After the round has been finished, the winners will be drawn from each matchup of two drivers. If both drivers did not start their stint, the driver who registered first will proceed. If both drivers start their stints, but fail to submit a valid stint time (or are disqualified), the driver who started the stint first will proceed to the next round.
- Lottery
After every round, the remaining drivers are matched-up using a randomizer. This means it is completely unknown for everyone who your competitor in given round is.
- No corner-cutting allowed
Corner-cutting is not allowed. The rule is that drivers must have two wheels touching (in any way) or be exactly vertically above the track at any time during the lap. The track consists of the tarmac between the white lines, the white lines itself, the regular (!) curbs. Curb-extensions (like green or grey extensions to be seen at for example A-1 Ring, Imola, Suzuka, Magny-Cours or Silverstone) do not belong to the track. Look at the images for a graphical representation of legal and illegal corners.
- Setup changes allowed
You can make any change to your setup before or during your round session.
- Save replay
You are required to save your replay after your round session. On request by the Race Directors, you should immediately provide your replay.
Good luck! If you have any suggestions to improve this championship within GPChampionship.com, feel free to let us know by e-mail or by submitting a post in our forum.
